Good afternoon everyone,
Thank you so much for all you've been doing to ensure our students received the critical services they need to grow and thrive!
As we've been discussing all year, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) has issued a new rule which requires all PT's, OT's, and SLP's to obtain an National Provider Identifier (NPI) number and also enroll as a Medicaid provider with their state agency in order for their school districts/BOCES to continue to participate in school-based Medicaid reimbursement. In Colorado, our deadline for meeting this requirement is June 30th - all providers must have completed the enrollment process and been approved (it can take up to two months).
Now, you've all either created a new NPI or updated an existing NPI at this point - that's a huge win! You are all now prepared to move on to the second step, which is Medicaid enrollment with Colorado. This process takes less than 45 minutes, and it's absolutely free. It will not only help us meet the new rule requirement, but it will also be a benefit to you if you ever chose to work in a community setting. While you may not currently document services for our Medicaid program, it's important that you complete these steps so that we are compliant if assignments change in the future.
Royce has graciously provided a time and space to complete this work and asks that you join me on February 9th at 8:00am for a registration work-session before our all-staff meeting. I will be on-site to walk you through the entire application process, and can help you navigate any errors or problems that might arise. We will be providing breakfast (thanks Royce!), so come hungry. You will need to bring a laptop, a digital copy of your DORA or CDE license (I will also have copies on hand), and be prepared to enter personal information (address, SS, etc).
For SLP's: If you have both a DORA and a CDE license, please have a copy of your DORA handy.
I will be giving one lucky attendee a $25 gift card to the coffee shop of their choice!
If you absolutely cannot make this session, please reach out to me right away so you can schedule a time to walk through this online together before spring break. You are being asked to attend because you do not already have a Medicaid enrollment on file with the state - if you feel this is in error, please let me know.
